Welcome!
If you're
looking for someone to help you become the writer you've always dreamed of becoming, you've come to the right place. Smoky Trudeau has been an author,
editor, writing instructor, and writing coach for more than ten years. During that time she has helped hundreds of people
achieve their dreams of becoming published.
Smoky
is the author of two novels, Redeeming Grace and The
Cabin, and two nonfiction books especially for writers: Front-Word, Back-Word, Insight
Out: Lessons on Writing the Novel Lurking Inside You From Start to Finish, and Left-Brained,
Write Brained: 366 Writing Prompts and Exercises to Free Your Creative Spirit, Awaken Your Muse, and Challenge Your Skills
Every Day of the Year, all from Vanilla Heart Publishing. She has published short stories and poetry in literary journals
such as CALYX and Potpourri and online ezines
such as Smashed Ink, and was a 2003 Pushcart Prize nominee.
An ardent outdoorswoman with a deep reverence
for nature, Smoky's soon-to-be-released book, Observations of an Earth Mage, is a
collection of prose and poetry celebrating the fragile beauty of our planet. She is also nearing completion of her third novel,
The Storyteller's Bracelet. She is currently editing Vanilla Heart Publishing's Nature's
Gifts anthology, to be published Earth Day 2010.
Smoky's passion for the written word
and for helping others learn to express themselves was the driving force behind the creation of her online radio show, Write Well With Smoky Trudeau, that airs on the first of each month on Books With Heart
Radio at blogtalkradio.com. Beginning in January 2010, Smoky will put her extensive teaching experience to work as she facilitates
an online workshop for Vanilla Heart Publishing, From Manuscript to Book: Polish Your Prose for Publishing Success. More
workshops will follow shortly.
Smoky
lives in California with her husband, daughter, and a menagerie of animals, both domestic and wild, in a ramshackle cottage
in the woods overlooking the San Gabriel Valley and the San Gabriel Mountains beyond. When she isn't writing, she spends her
time hiking in the mountains, camping in the Sierras, splashing in tide pools, and fighting the urge to speak in haiku.
